Acetogenium status
Collins et al. (1994a) transfer the type species of Acetogenium to the genus Thermoanaerobacter and consequently the former is subsumed into the latter. In contrast, the taxonomic outline of the forthcoming second edition of Bergey's Manual of SystematicBacteriology places the genus Acetogenium in the family Syntrophomonadaceae.
