Citrobacter intermedius
Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology (1984) states that "Citrobacter intermedius does not have a type strain and does not appear in the Approved Lists." It further indicates that "Citrobacter intermedius biogroup a" should be classified as Citrobacter amalonaticus, and that "Citrobacter intermedius biogroup b" sould be classified as Citrobacter diversus. However, in Judicial Opinion 67 (1993), the name Citrobacter diversus (Burkey 1928) Werkman and Gillen 1932 (Approved Lists 1980) is rejected as nomen dubium, nomen rejiciendum because it was incorrectly used by Ewing and Davis (1972) as the name for a new species that cannot be considered identical to the organism described by Werkman and Gillen (1932). In most culture collections, strains deposited as C. diversus are classified as C. koseri.
