Isolate was obtained from Stacy Pfaller (US EPA). The original source is an established biofilm attached on the surface of a PVC coupon incubated in a CDC reactor receiving water from a chloraminated drinking water distribution system simulator. The sample was collected during an episode of nitrification (i.e. failure of the system).
