Metabolic Model of Streptococcus suis reveals the Indispensability of catabolic ornithine carbamoyltransferase ArcB for Adapting to Anaerobiosis

(Submitter supplied) Pathogenic microorganisms have evolved various strategies to sense and respond to stress in order to establish infection and ensure survival within the host's complex environment. Hypoxia, a metabolic stress factor encountered by aerobic microorganisms during rapid growth, remains poorly understood in terms of pathogen adaptation. Streptococcus suis, a zoonotic pathogen causing meningitis and sepsis, exhibits remarkable adaptability to anaerobic conditions. more...

Identification of the AdcR-regulated genes in Streptococcus suis by RNA sequencing analysis.

(Submitter supplied) RNA sequencing analysis of the transcriptome of the wild type (WT) strain and ΔadcR mutant. The data revealed that genes encoding the Zn acquisition systems were negatively regulated by AdcR.

RNA sequencing analysis of the genes regulated by TroR in Streptococcus suis

(Submitter supplied) The transcriptome of the wild type strain and ΔtroR of Streptococcus suis was compared by RNA sequencing analysis. The data revealed that some genes, such as the troABCD operon, were significantly differentially expressed in the ΔtroR mutant.

Transcriptomic analysis of Streptococcus suis in response to excess manganese

(Submitter supplied) We explored the transcriptome change of Streptococcus suis in the presence of manganese by RNA sequencing. The data revealed that the genes in the troABCD operon were significantly downregulated in response to manganese.

Transcriptomic analysis of Streptococcus suis in response to ferrous iron and cobalt toxicity

(Submitter supplied) We explored the transcriptome change of Streptococcus suis in the presence of ferrous iron and cobalt by RNA sequencing. The data revealed that expression of a lot of genes was altered to respond to ferrous iron and cobalt toxicity. Moreover, most of the genes differentially expressed in response to cobalt are the same as those in response to ferrous iron.

Transcriptome analysis of Streptococcus suis serotype 2 during infection in a murine air pouch model

(Submitter supplied) During infection in the air pouches, S. suis encounters changing environments and host factors. It is important for S. suis to modulate the gene expression in response to stimulants. Using DNA microarray analysis, we compared the transcriptome of S. suis obtained from the air pouches with that from working cultures.

Investigating the effect of CodY mutation on the gene expression in Streptococcus suis serotype 2 SC19 strain.

(Submitter supplied) To investigate the effect of CodY mutation on the gene expression in Streptococcus suis serotype 2 SC19 strain, we have employed whole genome microarray expression profiling as a discovery platform to identify genes regulated by CodY mutation. DNA microarray analysis was performed using an Agilent custom-designed oligonucleotide microarray. Based upon the whole genome sequence of SC19 , specific 60-mer oligonucleotide probes were designed using eArray (https://earray.chem.agilent.com/earray/), to cover all annotated genes. more...

Microarray analysis of genes regulated by SpxA1 and SpxA2 in Streptococcus suis serotype 2

(Submitter supplied) To reveal the scope of the Spx regulation and explore the differences in the regulatory roles of SpxA1 and SpxA2, the global gene transcription profiles of the WT, ∆spxA1 and ∆spxA2 strains were determined by DNA microarray analysis performed using an Agilent custom-designed oligonucleotide microarray.
